Meet your #DupacoCrew: I knew I was making a difference
By: Breon Hawthorne | Compliance representative
MARION, Iowa—Before I was an employee at Dupaco, I was a member. I was working at a grocery store, and when I would visit a Dupaco branch, I always noticed
something different about Dupaco employees. Every employee always seemed to have a genuine sense of purpose and fulfillment—regardless of their role.
When I joined Dupaco’s Member Experience team in early 2020, I “floated” to branches and several departments where I was able to jump in and lend a helping hand. Whether I was helping on the front line or in the mortgage department, I was constantly learning and always felt supported.
I knew the work I was doing was important and I was making a difference in our members’ lives.
Eventually, I transitioned into consumer lending and now have found my way into compliance. Although I’m no longer on the front lines helping members directly, the work I do ensures our credit union runs smoothly and continues to serve them effectively. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is the relationships I’ve built—with members and co-workers.
I see it firsthand when I’m out in the community and members come up to talk with me. They share their stories and thank me for how I was able to help.
I’m also very thankful for the relationships I’ve built with my co-workers and leadership. I’m constantly learning from experienced professionals who push me to grow.
And that’s the beauty of Dupaco: You’re empowered to evolve, to challenge yourself and to truly make a difference.
