National news segment highlights Dupaco’s proactive approach to fraud prevention

Dubuque, IA – CBS News recently spotlighted Dupaco Credit Union’s proactive approach to fraud prevention in a special segment titled, “Anything for Money: Inside America’s Scam Epidemic.” The segment aired on CBS Mornings, Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

CBS News Chief Investigative Correspondent, Jim Axelrod, visited Dupaco’s operations center in Dubuque and conducted an in-depth interview with Jill Gogel, VP, Fraud Services at Dupaco.

During the interview, Axelrod explored the critical work Dupaco undertakes daily to advocate for, educate, and protect its members from fraud and scams. Gogel highlighted several proactive measures, including regular staff training, educational blogs and newsletter articles, all designed to arm employees and members with the knowledge to identify and prevent fraud before it occurs.

Gogel emphasized the importance of a proactive mindset, stating, “When our members know what to look for and how to identify fraud and other financial scams before they even happen, it helps prevent the possible financial, emotional, and mental toll it can have on their well-being.”
