Dupaco member saves on home refinance fees with a mini mortgage

Lisa Mescher, relationship development specialist at Dupaco’s Pennsylvania branch in Dubuque, Iowa, asked a member a simple question that led to a deeper conversation about money—and big savings.

Lisa MescherI called a member to talk to her about her auto loan. While she didn’t need help financing a vehicle, I followed up by asking whether there was anything else Dupaco might be able to help her with.

The member told me that she wanted to refinance her mortgage, because she wasn’t happy with the rate and wanted the ability to pay weekly. But her mortgage was for a low-dollar amount, and the refinance fees made it hard to justify the process.

With a little digging, I discovered Dupaco’s Mini Mortgage would be a perfect fit. It allowed her to refinance her mortgage with minimal fees at a low, fixed rate—and gave her the ability to make weekly payments.

She also mentioned that her local bank didn’t have convenient hours. Even though our Carroll branch isn’t next door to her home in Adair, our electronic services make everything simple. She decided to move her checking and direct deposit to Dupaco. We also set her up with a Rewards Visa credit card and a home equity line of credit for her future needs.

It shows that you don’t have to have a physical branch in your hometown to do business with Dupaco. We are a full-service credit union with a variety of services that allow our members to bank from anywhere in the country!
