New deal days: Move over Black Friday
While many shoppers rely on Black Friday and Cyber Monday for the big holiday deals, those two days don’t necessarily net the biggest savings.
In an effort to spread the holiday shopping out, retailers are offering heavily discounted items and “lighting deals” both before and after the ever-popular Black Friday, says nationally syndicated consumer expert Clark Howard.
Based on analysis from last year’s data, Howard predicts the best day for deals will be the Sunday before Thanksgiving, on Nov. 23.
There are other great days to save, too. Savings.com recently released its annual calendar of holiday bargains, predicting the best days to buy gifts this season:
But here’s the bottom line: Whenever you choose to shop, it’s important to first have a spending plan in place. Create a list of everyone you will shop for, how much you will spend on each recipient and what you intend to give each person. No matter how good a bargain seems, it’s not saving you money if it didn’t make the cut in your spending plan.
