Dupaco Garage Sales promote people, thrift and community
Dupaco Community Credit Union is proud to announce it is bringing its popular Community-Wide Garage Sale event to Carroll for the first time. The Carroll Community-Wide Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday, June 18, 2016.
Area residents may participate by hosting a sale or shopping registered sales on the official Community-Wide Garage sale date.
Over 85 sales have been registered so far, and can be viewed in the printed directory, available inside this week’s Advertiser, or on the Dupaco Garage Sales website.
Behind this endeavor is a team of sponsors to help ensure its success: Dupaco, the Daily Times Herald Advertiser, and radio stations KCIM, KICK, and KKRL.
Dupaco is no stranger to Community-Wide Garage Sales. The credit union has hosted similar events in other communities, including Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, and Manchester, Iowa, and Platteville, Wis. As a credit union, Dupaco is about people, thrift and the community. That’s also what the Community-Wide Garage Sale is about, and why it’s a perfect fit for Dupaco.
“The Community-Wide Garage Sale weekend presents a great opportunity for positive social interaction among residents, which both the buyer and seller benefit from financially,” said Dupaco Community Credit Union President and CEO Joe Hearn. “What makes this event a great fit for Dupaco is its community connection and emphasis on thrift, which is a core principal of the credit union.”
Residents who plan to host a garage sale Saturday may still register their garage sale location, hours and sale description for free at the Dupaco Garage Sale site. Sales registered will appear in the online directory.
Printed garage sale directories, which include all sales that were registered by Monday, June 6, are available to the public at Dupaco at no cost. The directory includes a map and street guide. Sales in the directory are organized by map quadrant, and include descriptions of sales and sale hours.
The garage sale website features sale locations along with sale hours, descriptions and optional photos of items for sale; integrated Google map technology for directions from sale to sale; and the capability for buyers and sellers to direct message one another.
Those who register their sale are eligible to pick up a complimentary garage sale kit, including signs and price stickers, at Dupaco.
