Robert Wethal joins Dupaco Board of Directors
Posted:July 25, 2012
Details: The Dupaco Community Credit Union Board of Directors announced that it has appointed Robert J. Wethal, director of critical care and cardiovascular services for Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, to the board.

Wethal fills the unexpired board term of Robert W. Hoefer, who retired in February as Dupaco president and chief executive officer. As part of the leadership transition plan, Hoefer agreed to remain on the board of directors until the Dupaco Board Nominations Committee reviewed applications and offered a qualified candidate to replace him.

The board confirmed Wethal's appointment at its July meeting. Wethal's term will expire in 2013, at which time a vote of the membership will fill the seat during Dupaco's 64th Annual Membership Meeting, scheduled to be held Feb. 10, 2013.

"The board remains truly impressed by Bob Hoefer's professional leadership and volunteer service to the members of this credit union," said Dupaco Board Chairman Jeff Gonner. "He has ensured a smooth transition at both the CEO and board level. We are grateful for Bob's commitment and 41 years of volunteer board service."

"In the spirit of continuity, the board is confident in Robert Wethal's foremost commitment to member service and community involvement," added Gonner. "Moving forward, Bob's fresh perspective and diverse experiences will be a significant addition to the Dupaco board's focus on the vitality of the credit union and the evolving financial needs of its membership."

At Mercy Medical Center, Wethal manages the Cardiac Medical, Intensive Care, and Cardiac Rehabilitation Units, as well as the Cardiology Lab. His medical supervisory experience includes work at hospitals in Greeley, Colorado and Davenport, Iowa.

Wethal holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Clarke University in Dubuque. In May of 2013, he will complete his Masters in Health Care Administration from Des Moines (Iowa) University.

Wethal's community involvement includes The United Way, Special Olympics of Iowa, Camp Albrecht Acres, and The Smarter Sustainable Dubuque Initiative.

A resident of Dubuque, Bob's family includes his wife, Katy, and two young daughters, Grace and Alexandra.
