History

State-chartered by seven individuals in 1948, Dupaco Credit Union originally served employees of the Dubuque Packing Company. The first credit union location at 1465 Sycamore was completed in 1952 and remains in operation today as a full-service branch. In 1979, a second credit union
location was completed at Hillcrest and JFK in Dubuque, which currently serves as the main office. Due to dramatic changes in the meat-packing industry that negatively impacted the credit union’s future, the membership voted in 1985 to expand the charter to include anyone living in, or working for a business located in, Dubuque, Jackson, or Delaware Counties in Iowa. To reflect this expansion, the name was then changed to Dupaco Community Credit Union.

The credit union's charter was eventually expanded further, and now includes everyone who lives or works in the following 25-county area: Allamakee, Benton , Buchanan, Cedar, Clayton, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Iowa , Jackson, Johnson , Jones, Linn, Scott, or Winneshiek counties in Iowa; Crawford, Grant, Iowa, or Lafayette counties in Wisconsin; or Carroll, Jo Daviess, Rock Island, Stephenson , and Whiteside counties in Illinois. To best serve the needs of this expanded field of membership, Dupaco now operates branches in  Dubuque, Key West, Asbury, Dyersville, Manchester and Cedar Rapids, IA;  Galena, IL; and  Platteville , WI .
